About Our Lab

Research Fields

Our laboratory conducts research across a wide spectrum of fields, including healthcare management, safety engineering, and ergonomics. A particular focus is placed on human error, which is widely recognized as a leading cause of serious accidents. Since such errors often stem from deeper organizational issues, we emphasize research in organizational risk management—one of the most critical themes in ergonomics. Our primary areas of application include healthcare safety and transportation safety, both of which are major societal concerns. In recent years, we have broadened our scope from safety alone to include healthcare quality, operational efficiency, and other comprehensive aspects of healthcare management.

With the rapid aging of the population and declining birthrate in Japan, our lab also addresses pressing societal issues. The rising cost of healthcare and the need for effective elderly health management are becoming critical concerns. At the same time, the shrinking younger workforce has increased reliance on senior citizens and foreign workers. We explore strategies to support these demographic changes, contributing to more sustainable healthcare and workplace systems.

Lastly, we are also engaged in research related to digital platforms, such as e-commerce and social networking services (SNS). As more students show interest in these emerging areas, we apply ergonomics and human-centered design methods to study the effects of online advertisements, user interface design, and consumer reviews on user behavior.
